Job Description:

 Omitron is looking to expand our cloud based software solutions engineering team with a results-oriented self-starting software engineer with a keen curiosity and passion to deliver high-impact discriminating web-based applications to ensure mission success in the space community. We create innovative software solutions, enable accurate monitoring and automated data pipelines for calibration of optical and radar space surveillance sensors, deliver insightful dashboards and user interfaces, work closely with space operators to understand mission pain points and needs, push the bounds of the acceptable technology stacks and the pace that software is deployed to government systems using agile software methodologies and cloud based CI/CD deployments.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop enterprise grade software applications and solutions in an agile test driven development (TDD) fashion.
  • Design and develop services in one of the following languages, Python, JavaScript
  • Use a DevSecOps software development pipeline, develop, test, deploy and maintain and/or improve the performance and reusability of existing software.
  • Maintain a strong technical understanding of the projects baseline, trade studies, and assist with software development on the software development team.
  • Participate in software project planning, backlog grooming, standup, and retrospective meetings.
  • Perform software technology and architecture trade studies. Document and brief results to team or customer.
  • Work with government customer, operators to establish needs.
  • Contribute to up keep and maintenance of the software documentation and diagrams.
  • Maintain a predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and effective working relationship within the software developer team, Interact and ask questions effectively to maintain a positive, efficient and effective work environment.
  • Perform other tasks as necessary.


Qualifications and Required Skills:

  • BS degree or higher in Computer Science or engineering field plus 3 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Experience developing and delivering enterprise grade scalable web-based services and RESTFUL application programming interfaces (API’s)
  • Proficiency with common software development tasks such as coding unit testing, debugging, and configuration management.
  • Experience with agile software development methodologies.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS)
  • Experience with messaging buses such as RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka, Zero MQ etc.
  • Experience with application platform software such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with databases and data storage technologies including Relational databases and NoSQL databases etc.
  • Proficiency in a Python based web application framework such as FastAPI, Flask or Django. Experience with a JavaScript framework such as NodeJS may be considered.
  • Proven ability in writing tests, test driven development, in an agile software development environment, where building automated tests and procedures are paramount to continuous delivery of software.

Desired skills and experience:

  • Experience with other web application frameworks including front end frameworks such as React, Angular, VueJS etc.
  • An understanding of basic orbital mechanics and space surveillance processes and procedures.
  • A basic understanding of error modeling and error correction for sensor systems.
  • Ability to assemble and give polished presentation and software demonstrations.
  • Experience in deploying and maintaining machine learning algorithms on the cloud.

Clearance and Other Requirements:

A current, active Secret security clearance is desired. The ability to obtain a clearance is required.
