 Job Description:

Omitron is seeking a highly qualified candidate to fulfill a full-time position open for Project Manager. This position provides management support on Omitron’s HYPERION contract.

HYPERION aims to help space operators ensure the quality, integrity, and reliability of their sensor data across mission domains and at scale. This is done through the aggressive exploration and development of software solutions to meet emergent needs utilizing the latest technologies in enterprise software development, automation, and machine learning solutions.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide overall project management for the selected teams including technical, schedule, cost, quality, and resource management.
    • Plan and forecast annual budgets; identify variances and mitigation plans; report financial status to customer and program management.
    • Develop and maintain project schedules.
    • Ensure tasks and projects are on schedule and within budget.
  • Develop technical staff through effective personnel management.
    • Evaluate and regularly communicate staff performance, support career development.
    • Identify current or future skill gaps; establish plans to address them.
    • Hire additional staff, when needed.
  • Work closely with supported customers
    • Ensure expectations are clearly captured, always met, and frequently exceeded.
    • Routinely confirm satisfaction with team performance and mitigate all issues.
  • Collaborate and communicate with other managers and program management.
    • Determine needs and allocate resources to ensure project success.
    • Identify opportunities for technical or business process improvement.
    • Recognize and pursue opportunities to grow the project and/or team.

Required Degree and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field plus at least 5 years of professional experience; work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Required Skills:

Applicants must:

  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Have a background in engineering, Computer sciences, and/or Software Development
  • Be effective in:
    • Managing multiple projects with emphasis on continuous improvement
    • Managing multi-disciplinary teams including spacecraft operations, analysis, software, sustaining, and IT support disciplines
    • Working in a multi-customer environment with competing priorities
  • Have the ability to adapt and respond to changing circumstances and priorities
  • Have a demonstrated ability to communicate direction and concepts at multiple levels, from operators to senior executives
  • Have a background in personnel management and deployment of direct reports
  • Have a strong background in finance management of a project
  • Have excellent presentation skills

Desired Skills:

  • Effective in managing matrixed and non-collocated teams
  • Experience in satellite flight dynamics operations or analysis
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or the Project Management Associate certification
