Job Description:

Omitron provides experienced Flight Dynamics expertise to NASA’s Earth Observing System (EOS) Flight Dynamics Support (FDS) team. The EOS FDS team supports maneuver operations by planning, executing, and calibrating satellite maneuvers including Conjunction Risk Mitigation Maneuvers and routine Station-Keeping maneuvers for Aqua, Aura, and Terra spacecraft. The EOS FDS team provides significant analysis support to the Earth Sciences Mission Operations (ESMO) project and the associated constellations.  Additionally, the team supports requirements definition, design, configuration, and acceptance testing of multiple software tools, including the ESMO Constellation Coordination System (CCS) and the EOS Flight Dynamics Ground System.

Omitron is seeking a qualified candidate to fulfill a full time Flight Dynamics Analysis Lead position.  The Analysis Lead is responsible for providing flight dynamics expertise, analysis support, and leadership for various team activities.

Specific areas of support include:

  • Documenting and prioritizing activities and customer requests with other team leads and various stakeholders
  • Working with the other leads and task management to manage all task activities and analyst workloads
  • Providing technical expertise to help train and mentor analysts to ensuring the team provides the highest level of mission support
  • Managing and supporting mission and constellation analyses which may include mission lifetime, decommissioning, mission safety, and constellation safety
  • Working directly with analysts to help verify and validate analysis activities
  • Supporting routine flight dynamics operations including daily product generation and maneuver planning, execution, and assessment
  • Providing on-call operations support by responding to, and providing necessary support for, any off-hours events which may be required at any time
  • Some travel may be required. Off-hours support will be required

Required Skills:

  • Ability to work with flight dynamics tools such as FreeFlyer, STK, or GMAT
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and effective technical writing ability
  • Analytical problem solving skills
  • Ability to work without constant supervision
  • Understanding of orbit mechanics, orbit maintenance, spacecraft flight dynamics
  • Creative thinking to process information in unique ways

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with various software languages including Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), FreeFlyer, and Matlab
  • Covariance Propagation Experience
  • Low Earth Orbit Mission operations and analyses
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle methodologies
  • Understanding of attitude systems and maintenance

Required Experience:

Applicants should have 4+ year’s professional engineering experience in astrodynamics or spacecraft-related field.  Spacecraft operations and/or spacecraft obit analysis experience is strongly desired.

Required Degree:

Bachelor’s in Engineering, mathematics, physics or a related field; advanced degree preferred
