Job Description: 

Omitron is seeking candidate to fulfill the role of Satellite Ground Systems Engineer to provide systems engineering support with particular focus on satellite ground systems and the tracking and documenting of their configurations.  The candidate will assist in the capturing of system configurations and changes that are made to existing systems, as part of planned upgrades, unplanned changes and deployment of future systems.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Capture satellite ground system inventory in Excel and document configurations in Visio diagrams document the state of multiple NOAA operational ground systems
  • Manage the diagram repository housed in a NOAA hosted SharePoint and maintain the diagram update schedule
  • Collecting data and input from stakeholders and subject matter experts on multiple programs while adhering to set deadlines
  • Support engineering meetings to collect data and help NOAA assess the ground system configuration and readiness
  • Effectively scheduling and leading meetings to gather data on the state of the ground system elements
  • Coordinate and support hardware and equipment site audits at the request of the customer

Skill Requirements:

Applicants must be capable of performing a wide range of systems engineering activities. The ability to synthesize technical data on the satellite ground systems to accurately manage the diagram repository and linkages. The applicant must be familiar with CAD programs, preferably Visio.  Applicants should be familiar with Microsoft SharePoint and MS Project.  The ability to script in PowerShell is preferred, other scripting experience is acceptable (python, C#, Javascript).   Applicants will need to work independently and as part of a team, have keen multi-tasking skills, and exceptional verbal and written communication skills for customer and contractor interactions. Applicants should have a defined background in engineering.  Familiarity with NASA and NOAA culture, observational satellite systems, and science is highly desirable. 

 

Required Experience:         

Minimum of 2 years of experience in satellite ground systems support and systems engineering

Required Degree:     

Bachelor degree in engineering, computer science or science.

Job Location:

Suitland, MD.  Periodic travel may also be required.

Security Clearance Requirements:

Must be able to pass a Public Trust background investigation.
