JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
This position will require frequent travel to Ohio CAT branch and customer locations. A willingness to study and learn new skills and technical information related to the job is required. Field Servicemen troubleshoot and repair general heavy and aerial equipment drive-train components, electrical, after treatment, and hydraulic systems as well as perform normal machine repair in a safe manner. Field Servicemen work from an Ohio CAT service truck, in the natural elements.
Strong technical service skills, mechanical aptitude, or experience with construction or power equipment required. Strong DC electrical and machine electronic system knowledge is crucial while diagnosing machines with a laptop computer. Strong hydraulic system knowledge and ability to read schematics to help in diagnosis. Knowledge of after-treatment systems is also helpful.
Must demonstrate the ability to follow technical material and apply processes and procedures as necessary to complete manufacturers’ updates, as required. Must be organized, self-motivated, and able to work without direct supervision. The position may require after-hours or weekend overtime work.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Teamwork and task-oriented.
Strong self-confidence and customer relations are needed. Strong computer and software skills are a must.
High school graduate minimum, College, and/or continued education in a technical field a plus. Experience related to construction or power equipment service and repair is required.
Valid Commercial Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record in accordance with Ohio CAT standards (4 or fewer moving violation points). Welding certifications are a plus.
Lifting/Carrying 40 lb. Lift/Carry and 50lb+ pulling. Standing/Sitting Up and downstairs, standing, sitting, and climbing into machines. Dexterity Normal
Repetitive Motions Frequent movement requiring hands, wrists, and fingers. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
