OBAYASHI CORPORATION is seeking a qualified candidate with experience in heavy civil and underground construction including site work, utilities, excavation, TBM tunnels, SEM tunnels, drill & blast tunnels, mining, shafts, or underground structures worksThe position is at a project site in Portland, OR. The expected start date is June 2024.   

    

Education & Work Experience:     
  • Minimum of BS degree in Civil Engineering, construction or related degree required.
  • 0-5 years combined experience of project experience or estimating in Tunneling or Civil Engineering.
    
Skills:    
  • Strong Computer Skills to include Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD, Outlook and Power Point.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills required.
  • Knowledge of heavy civil construction principles, with ability to read plans and specifications.
  • Attention to detail and ability to recognize discrepancies.
      

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES    

  • Assist in review of project plans and development of project submittals and work plans.
  • Monitor and oversee field operations including utilities, shaft and tunnel excavation.
  • Perform field layout and measurement.
  • Track project quantities and monitor quality control.
  • Make daily report and update/inform ongoing progress and issues to team.
  • Provide managerial guidance to improve cost performance and to solve critical issues that may arise at the construction site.
  • Ensure that construction work is performed in accordance with our quality, technology and safety standards.
  • Observe daily operation, find room to improve and provide alternative solutions.
  • The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed above and other duties may be assigned.

 OTHER:     

  • Able to work after hours, weekends and on call when needed.
  • Ability to walk and work on outdoor construction job sites.
  • Able to work for night shift.
  • Able to work as team member with crew and superintendent.
  • Ability to lift and/or lift up to 40 lbs.
