About the Department

The Event Development and Production Department develops and produces NYRR events from concept all the way through execution in alignment with NYRR’s mission. The TCS New York City Marathon, United Airlines NYC Half and the RBC Brooklyn Half are just a few of the 40+ adult events and 30+ Rising New York Road Runners youth events produced by the team each year. The team leads core elements of the operations including physical site management, timing and scoring operations, volunteer management, hospitality and special events, safety and security, management of our warehouse and all race collateral, city and state agency relationship management, and permitting.

 

About the Position

The Inventory Control Associate (ICA) plays a key role in supporting daily inventory workflows and physical stock accuracy. This hands-on position supports tasks such as auditing, labeling, sorting, kitting, replenishment, and event preparation. While the role reports directly to the Director of Inventory Control, daily projects and tasks are jointly managed by the Inventory Control Specialist(s) to support warehouse execution, accuracy, and team alignment. This structure allows the ICC to learn, contribute, and grow within a highly collaborative environment focused on process excellence and operational readiness for NYRR’s large-scale event execution.

 

This role will be in-person and onsite 3 days a week at our Warehouse in the Bronx, NY

 

Job Responsibilities:

Inventory Support & Location Accuracy

  • Perform cycle counts, inventory audits, and storage bin reviews.
  • Assist in labeling, sorting, and location maintenance of incoming and outgoing inventory.
  • Prepare physical zones for receiving, stocking, and pick/pack activities.
  • Identify and report discrepancies to Inventory Control Specialists for follow-up

Event Prep & Deployment

  • Support kit assembly and supply staging for outbound events.
  • Replenish consumables, signage, and kitting components.
  • Assist in loadout support and return shipment processing post-event.

System & Equipment Use

  • Use handheld scanners, PDAs, and WMS tools to complete tasks and log stock movements.
  • Follow instructions for accurate barcode scanning and data capture.
  • Maintain accountability for the physical handling and condition of warehouse materials.
  • Repair and assemble equipment as needed

 

Team & Task Coordination

  • Receive daily task direction from both Inventory Control Specialist(s), who jointly manage workload and project delegation.
  • Report task completions, blockers, or safety concerns to the ICS team and/or Director as needed.
  • Coordinate with warehouse staff, including Signage Operations Lead and Equipment teams, to ensure process continuity.

 

Job Requirements:

Experience:

  • 1+ year in a warehouse, logistics, or inventory-related environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with inventory systems, event operations, or receiving a plus.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Familiarity with ERP/WMS systems and inventory tracking software
  • Applied use of tools such as RFID scanners, PDA, smartphones for daily business activities and communication.
  • Communicate in a professional manner with Internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work occasional weekends or evenings
  • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Ability to speak Spanish language strongly preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Operate heavy material equipment such as a forklift, pallet jack, and 1 person lift (or willingness to learn or obtain certification)
  • Willing to load and offload a truck using a liftgate
  • Must be able to lift to 50 pounds unassisted
  • Must be able to walk, bend, squat, twist, and lift without assistance.
  • Must be able to work in all season conditions (weather gear is provided)

Other Requirements:

  • All staff are required to work the NYC Half Marathon, Brooklyn Half Marathon, and the TCS NYC Marathon.

 

Salary: $25.00/HR
