About the Department 

Strategic Partnerships is responsible for developing revenue-generation partnerships from corporate and community-based organizations and managing those relationships. Partnerships vary from year-round engagement to specific races and events. They work closely with all NYRR’s departments to develop programs that maximize revenue opportunities and ensure NYRR’s partners’ objectives are met. Licensing & Merchandising provides merchandising services to every area of the company. Internal merchandising services include managing the development of all weekly race premiums, premiums for programs, development and distribution of staff clothing and any all-product needs for the organization. Runner Products supports the training, racing, and community experience of our runners – through classes, seminars, and customized training programs. The team also provides experiences to enhance the runner’s engagement with the running community and their experience at NYRR events, including race photography and ticketed events. The Runner Services team is the information source for our runners, serving as a conduit of information and an advocate for NYRR’s runner-first philosophy. NYRR’s Charity Programs include more than 500 Official Charity Partners whose runners raise over $40 million annually. NYRR’s ITO Program operates in 100+ countries, and across 6 continents, and brings more than 15,000 international runners across the finish line at the TCS NYC Marathon.  

About the Position 

RUNCenter Associate key highlight in the role is to be resourceful, adaptive and organized. Helping the team to enhance the runner's engagement with the running community and their experience at NYRR events.  

Job Responsibilities (primary and secondary duties): 

• Demonstrate passion and commitment to the NYRR brand and core values: excellence, teamwork, passion, innovation, service, and integrity.
• Set the standard for excellence in customer service through leading by example and holding the team accountable.
• Uphold COVID protocols and practices as outlined by the organization and New York State
• Act as a line manager to help direct the flow of traffic and enforce physical distancing per COVID safety guidelines.
• Participate in morning meeting or check in at the start of each shift to learn your assigned roles and pertinent RUNCenter and organizational information.
• Assign race numbers to registered runners and distribute race t-shirts and premiums.
• Assist runners with race registration, membership, and other transactions.
• Process cash and credit card transactions and count money to reconcile the cash drawer.
• Track race premium inventory by performing daily inventory counts.
• Keep records of customer interactions or transactions, recording details of inquiries, complaints, or comments
• Create a fun experience through positive runner interactions.
• Work on other projects or assignments as needed. 

Job Requirements:  

Experience: 

• Demonstrated customer service skills. 
• Previous experience in fitness industry or retail a plus 

Education & Certifications: 

• Any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. 

Skills and Attributes: 

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) 
• Strong attention to detail 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
• Organized team player 
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment. 
• Excellent customer service background and the ability to work with a diverse group of staff and participants. 
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, tasks and projects. 
• Professionally able to handle escalated customer service or personnel issues while upholding NYRR values. 
• Spanish and Multi-lingual skills a plus 

Other Requirements: 

• Must be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends and some holidays.  

Physical Requirements 

• Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. 
• Must be comfortable lifting boxes and assisting with deliveries from the warehouse. 

 Salary: $22.00/hour
