About the Department
The Strategy, Planning, and Analytics Department works collaboratively with each department across the organization to support strategy formulation, growth plan execution, project management, and strategic business operations planning. The team provides the organization with in-depth analytical support by evaluating existing operations and new business opportunities. The team helps lead and advise cross-functional project teams in executing the many action items, special projects, and enhanced operations that help NYRR reach its strategic objectives.  The Membership program also resides within the department, as we introduce strategic enhancements to the program. 
 
About the Position
As an impact driven non-profit, NYRR tracks and evaluates the impact of our organization. The Evaluation Lead’s core responsibility is to manage and implement our evaluation framework, so NYRR can continuously improve the quality and impact of our events, youth and community programs. This role requires strong data analysis, collaboration and communication skills, leadership and problem-solving skills.  
 
Job Responsibilities (primary and secondary duties):
 
Data Collection, Analysis, and Evaluation
  • Manage the development and implementation of data collection tools, emphasizing low-burden methods for engaging program and event participants
  • Develop and administer surveys, interviews, and focus groups for key program stakeholders 
  • Build and maintain primary data sets across multiple programs and products; merging data from multiple sources
  • In partnership with team members and IT colleagues define business and technology requirements for data collection across multiple platforms and workflows 
 
Collaboration and Innovation
  • Serve as a key resource and strategic thought partner to the organization 
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop meaningful impact measures (input, output, outcome) and methods of program/project/product evaluation 
  • Facilitate a culture of innovation, continuous learning and accountability by supporting teams to identify and solve key challenges and find new opportunities that improve outcomes for the communities we serve.
Reporting and Recommendations 
  • Execute quantitative and qualitative analyses to report on program participation, progress against key program milestones, and participant outcomes
 
  • In partnership with teams across the organization synthesize multiple sources of data into written reports that are communicative, visually appealing, and shared with senior leadership, board, and external partners/stakeholders
  • Communicate and present programmatic and event insights to internal NYRR teams. 
  • Identify and pursue areas for additional analysis that can support evidence-based decisions by teams and Senior Leaders
  • Keep up to date with latest trends in data analysis and program evaluation approaches
  • Support the organization to increasingly contextualize program results in the context of city-level health and social well-being measures

 

Job Requirements:
 
Experience:
  • Experience in non-profit, community-based, or academic environments conducting formative and summative program evaluations or applied research
  • 3+ years of experience with quantitative and qualitative research methods: Survey design, focus group/interview guide development, data collection, management and analysis
  • Experience with outcome management
  • Experience related to youth, community based, and/or physical activity programming
  • Familiarity with the NYC Department of Education a plus 
  • Knowledge of Salesforce CRM, Survey Monkey preferred 
 
Education & Certifications:
  • Undergraduate degree in statistics, psychology, sociology, public policy, public health, public affairs or related field and/or successful completion of relevant coursework in program evaluation, analytics, or statistics
  • Advanced degrees preferred in public policy, public health, or public affairs
 
Skills and Attributes:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Outstanding communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work both independently and across multiple departments/functions
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent analytical skills and experience in conducting descriptive and inferential statistical analysis of quantitative data and analysis of qualitative data
  • Strong ability to synthesize multiple sources of mixed-method data into reports for a wide range of audiences
  • Strong ability to translate data into practical, actionable insights and recommendations
  • Experience with statistical data analysis software and/or advanced Excel skills, including analytic function
 
Other Requirements:
  • All staff are required to work the United Airlines NYC Half, RBC Brooklyn Half, and the TCS New York City Marathon
  • Operate on a hybrid schedule, with two days per week in the NYRR office in NYC. 

Salary: 80-88K
