About the Department

Our Human Resources department supports the staff at NYRR in numerous ways, including managing recruiting efforts, providing benefits, managing performance and compensation, and providing opportunities for professional training and development. The HR team works closely with each department to understand their specific needs and works to meet those needs. The department ensures that NYRR provides an environment in which employees can innovate and succeed in their positions.

About the Position

This position will report to the Vice President of Human Resources and Office Operations, with the core responsibility of developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive internal communications strategy for NYRR. The focus of the comprehensive internal communication program will be to increase employee engagement and build internal alignment and awareness   Effectively delivering messages around current events, organizational history, mission, vision, strategy, organizational change initiatives, equity initiatives, human resource programs and, and corporate social responsibility.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive communication plan across all employee populations
  • Create content in alignment with NYRR brand identity standards and communication guidelines
  • Ensure consistency of messages across all internal communication channels
  • Provide corporate templates and tools (newsletter, templates, and guidelines) to all departments
  • Establish metrics, track progress, and develop tools to improve communication effectiveness
  • Develop and implement communications plans, strategies that support organization goals and objectives
  • Develop strategy to address needs of employees and business
  • Assess needs, write, edit, produce, and manage distribution of internal communications content as needed. (e.g., newsletters, articles for intranet, corporate announcements, presentations, Town Halls)
  • Develop innovative communication approaches (intranet, videos, digital screens, presentations, conferences, and e-mails)
  • Collaborate with Marketing and HR partners on content creation and management of LinkedIn site
  • Provide advice and counsel to management on the use of internal communications
  • Support Management in preparing and delivering key communications / events (e.g., presentations, Town Hall, celebration, and teambuilding events, etc.) and presenting in these key moments
  • Work closely with internal teams, including Culture, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, IT, Office Operations, Community, Marketing, Senior Leadership Team and Event task forces to communicate initiatives
  • Support all employee organizational announcements
  • Partner with members of HR on employee engagement and development initiatives
  • Participate in weekly departmental meetings, and relevant cross-departmental and event-focused meetings

Job Requirements:


  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a position requiring leadership, analytical skills, and expertise with Internal Communications.
  • Project management experience a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related area.
