Senior Vice President, Human Resources

Position Overview: The SVP is responsible for providing direction and leadership with respect to strategy, design and execution of programs to meet HR and strategic objectives for NYCEDC. The SVP will drive the communication and execution of corporate policy and people strategy in matters such as the hiring of talent, retention, employee development, and performance management.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing day-to-day department operations, and closely aligning policies and practices for the HR team.
- Develop and oversee the implementation of key HR initiatives that support the overall NYCEDC strategic plan.
- Work with leaders and employees to establish and maintain a high-performance culture and positive work environment, encouraging the full use of diverse talents and abilities.
- Liaise with the organization’s department heads and provide comprehensive solutions and recommendations based on the needs of the group.
- Provide leadership to senior management and staff on critical employee relations issues. Prevent and mitigate risk related to labor and employment issues.
- Guide the work of the HR staff across the full spectrum of HR disciplines specifically in the areas of employee relations, performance management, succession planning, policies & procedures, learning & development, and other strategic projects.
- Embed Diversity, Equity and Inclusion into all people processes, including further developing initiatives and measures of success for DE&I at NYCEDC
- Assess and guide implementation of all technology solutions to improve and streamline processes and increase efficiency.
- Annually review and make recommendations to the Chief People Officer for improvement of company’s policies, procedures, operations, practices etc.
- Manage, develop, and ensure that HR staff are properly oriented to their positions.
- Responsible for compliance with City, State and Federal legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent
- 10+ years of experience across a variety of HR functions with at least 3+ years of experience managing teams.
- Deep knowledge in talent acquisition, organizational design, performance management, learning and development, and DEI programs
- Experienced leadership and project management; strong interpersonal communications
- Able to engage with key stakeholders and understand their needs and take a proactive approach to implementing ideas and solutions.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong communications skills, both oral and written.
- Experience in handling complex employee relations issues.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws, regulations, and best practices
- New York City residence is required within 180 days of hire
Salary Range: $160,000 – 165,000
