Position Overview:

The EEO Officer and Senior Vice President, Diversity, Inclusion and Social Responsibility reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), with a “dotted line” reporting relationship to the President. They are responsible for leading NYCEDC’s commitment to be an antiracist, equitable, and inclusive organization by developing related policies and programs in conjunction with Human Resources to attract, retain and foster a diverse and inclusive workforce. They will also address all EEO related claims and issues, and lead efforts related to design, implementation, and monitor all inclusion and diversity initiatives at NYCEDC.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Serves as Lead EEO Officer, reporting to the President, supporting the organization’s federal, state, and city equal opportunity and civil rights compliance obligations.
  • Receive, investigate, report out, and resolve allegations of discrimination and harassment.
  • Ensure concerns of discrimination and harassment are responded to promptly with a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Creates and manages a program to verify adherence with the EEO compliance including coordination and delivery of harassment and discrimination prevention training and awareness programs.
  • Oversees EEO Counselors/Investigators on EEO matters
  • Applies in-depth knowledge of diversity principles and practices to deliver solutions to workplace inclusion, employee engagement and employee networks
  • Establishes a strong working relationship with Human Resources and senior leaders to influence outcomes that increase overall representation, engagement, and business results as it relates to inclusion and workforce diversity
  • Conducts annual compensation analysis to address and implement equitable pay practices and philosophies in conjunction with Human Resources.
  • Develops metrics/KPI’s for measuring the effectiveness of corporate workforce diversity initiatives.
  • Analyzes quantitative and qualitative data to assess risks and makes recommendations.
  • Monitors and delivers internal reporting on organizational hiring/employment metrics and initiatives.
  • Oversees Employee Resource Groups and Mindful Club.
  • Sponsors NYCEDC’s strategic initiatives to support the retention and advancement of diverse leaders.
  • Oversees internal social responsibility efforts.
  • Networks with local and national diversity organizations, in conjunction with Human Resources, to bolster the corporation’s affiliation with such organizations and aids in diversity recruitment initiatives.
  • All other duties as required

  • Minimum 8 years in the Human Resources field and experience in managing EEO claims
  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master's degree/JD in a related field preferred
  • Subject expert in workplace diversity policy and practices
  • Experience in executive leadership and in developing and implementing diversity/equity/inclusion programs.
  • Proven ability to work as a team member
  • Strong knowledge of Equal Employment regulations and affirmative placement programs
  • Knowledge of talent management and development strategies
  • Ability to consult, advise and influence senior leaders
  • New York City residence is required within 180 days of hire
