The Research Assistant is a temporary, part-time position that will work closely with the Curator of Amazonian Botany to assist with an array of tasks related to a taxonomic monograph. | |

Additionally, this position supports, through actions and conduct, NYBG’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility initiatives and helps to build and maintain an inclusive organization culture throughout the institution.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities: |
- Maintain data base and update as needed
- Process new dried plant collections
- Organize archives of field images and botanical drawings
- Annotate specimens of Burseraceae and return loans
- Prepare herbarium labels
- Prepare images of leaf clearings for publication

Qualifications: | |
| - Software: at least 5 years using Excel, Word, PhotoShop; familiarity with KE-EMu software; 1 year using ChatGPT
- Herbarium: at least 5 years experience working in herbaria, cataloguing, mounting, digital imaging, filing
- Geography: familiar with flora and geography of Neotropics
- Fluent in Portuguese and English required; Working knowledge of Spanish preferred
