Lead Education Greeter
Position Summary |
The Lead Education Greeter is front-line at School Gate and Garden grounds, greets school groups, ensures prompt arrival to registered programs. Facilitates school group visitation, provides information, assistance and orientation to school groups upon arrival and at departure. Maintains communication with Security, Visitor Services and Education Program managers. The Education Greeter may participate in occasional filing or checking messages during off-peak times, as needed. The Lead Education Greeter must successfully perform all responsibilities stated above with additional responsibilities that include providing administrative support at school group check-in booth when needed, moving between locations during shifts, and proactive communication with the Registration Liaison and Head Registrar to mitigate problems and backlog during peak traffic times. Additional office administrative support may also be required. Additionally, this position supports, through actions and conduct, NYBG’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility initiatives and actively helps to build and maintain an inclusive organizational culture throughout the institution. |
Specific Duties & Responsibilities· Greet and accurately check in school groups at School Gate. · Provide orientation and assistance to school groups at different locations within the Garden, as assigned. · Communicate with Registration Office and Children's Education managers regarding updates / issues with visiting School Groups. · Become conversant in activities and interests related to school group's needs. · Support Registration Liaison at check-in booth during peak arrival times. · Move between locations as directed and assess school group needs · Proactively communicate with Head Registrar and Registration Liaison to mitigate common issues during high traffic periods · Be available for additional hours as needed during peak school group season · Provide administrative support as needed to Head Registrar during high traffic times |
Qualifications |
· Excellent customer service skills. · Ability to handle many check-in tasks rapidly. · Ability to clearly communicate with teachers and fellow Education Greeters. · Ability to quickly ascend/descend school bus stairs. · Ability for fast-paced movement / motion between school buses and school groups. · Willingness and ability to work in a variety of weather conditions and be outdoors. · Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods. · Driver’s License preferred. · High School Diploma or Equivalency required.
