Basic Job Functions |
Supervise DPG Educators as they facilitate a variety of garden-based education activities with children and families visiting the Edible Academy for drop-in gardening activities. Support volunteers contributing to the Edible Academy and complete opening and/or closing procedures to prepare and secure the Edible Academy campus. |
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
• Supervise DPG Educators as they facilitate a variety of garden-based education activities with children and families visiting the Edible Academy for drop-in gardening activities. • Perform opening and/or closing responsibilities at the Edible Academy, preparing the campus for staff and visitors, securing the campus at closing, completing daily review logs, and communicating daily summary emails to supervisors. • Maintain organized work areas, including care of garden tools and enrichment activity supplies. • Communicate with other departments via radio for assistance if necessary, including Security, Visitors Services, Maintenance, Custodial, etc.) • Complete and document ongoing horticultural projects and task throughout the Edible Academy campus. |
Qualifications |
• Applicant should have gardening and teaching experience, an outgoing personality, enthusiastic attitude, and willingness to work with children and families. • Applicant should be punctual, reliable, thorough, and detailed • Applicant should be able to lift heavy program materials and work outdoors for extended periods. • Two years related experience is required.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to, at minimum, stand; walk; sit; use hands, reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Work outdoors under a variety of weather conditions. Work under low, moderate or loud work conditions.

Baseline Work Schedule: Wednesday and Sunday, from 9:30am to 5:30pm. This is a temporary, part time role.
Payrate: commensurate with experience within range of $28-$32 per hour
