Sprouts Educator, Children’s Gardening Program
Basic Job Functions |
Lead gardening activities and develop and share garden-based education enrichment activities with the Garden Sprouts of the Children's Gardening Program at the Edible Academy. |
Specific Duties & Responsibilities · Lead a group of twelve children between three and five years old and their caregiver (ie: 12 three year old or 12 four year old children) through a series of gardening activities and garden-based enrichment activities over the course of season. · Develop and submit specific garden-based enrichment activities in advance of each session and complete review and reflection notes on completion of each session. · Lead Garden Sprouts through a series of planned gardening activities as they care for their assigned garden plots throughout each program season. · Assist with general horticultural tasks in the garden plots with the participants, and maintain an organized work area, including care of garden tools and enrichment activity supplies. |
Qualifications |
· Applicant should have gardening and early childhood teaching experience, an outgoing personality, enthusiastic attitude, and willingness to work with children and families. · Applicant should be able to lift heavy program materials and work outdoors for extended periods. · Two years related experience is required. |
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Must be willing to work outdoors in all types of weather
Work Schedule
- Temporary part time role expected to last till October
- Saturday, 8:30 AM- 1:30 PM
Rate
- $22 per hour
