Summary:

Maintains and improves a safe, cost effective cleaning and transportation department.  Position will have oversight of Patient Transport and Environmental Services department on assigned shift.

Responsibilities:

1. Maintains a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors and staff by managing the Transport and Environmental Services Departments.
2. Provides technical support and training to EVS and Transport zone leaders, EVS and Transport employees.
3. Supervises and coordinates transport, cleaning, trash removal & preventative maintenance procedures for all patient care areas and utility support systems.  Assigns work to personnel and monitors for accuracy and ensures completion of tasks by inspection work and processes.
4. Performs administrative tasks pertaining to daily and overall operations.  Orients, trains, schedules, counsels & evaluates employees.  Responds to patient and customer requests and complaints pertaining to Transport and EVS.
5. Develop professional skills, attends continuing education sessions and attains personal qualification standards to ensure the technical competency & team work required to provide quality service.  Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
6. Develops an empowered, knowledgeable customer oriented staff which functions 24 hours/day - 7 days/week.
7. Obtains outside services as needed by priority in a cost effective manner.
8. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: HS GRAD/EQUIVALENT

Other Information:

 

This position requires a minimum formal education of High School Diploma and minimum of three years job-related experience.

Supervisor experience, including financial, estimating, computer and scheduling skills.  3+ year supervisory experience in housekeeping at a Hospital or Hotel with a successful customer service and leadership track record.  Familiar with JCAHO, State, Local, DEP and OSHA regulations.
