Summary:
Performs electroencephalography (EEG) brainwave testing that assists the Neurologist to establish a diagnosis and treatment plan for the patient.
Responsibilities:
1.Performs routine and STAT on-site EEG and ambulatory EEG testing of patients ranging in age from infant to adult utilizing critical thinking skills and best practices.
2. Performs video EEG testing of patients ranging in age from pediatric to adult utilizing critical thinking skills and best practices.
3. Uploads and transfers data from ambulatory EEG tests into the database to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the data.
4. Communicates with the Neurologist about the status of patient tests including any barriers or observed abnormalities.
5.Performs quality control (QC) to achieve best possible test results per accepted standards.
6. Educates patients and care givers on the testing process and answers any questions or concerns to promote patient compliance and satisfaction.
7. Acts as a liaison to contracted call staff and colleagues at other institutions to facilitate testing and interpretations during off hours.
8. Provides new employee orientation and acts as a resource for new and/or contracted staff.
9. Communicates effectively to other members of the healthcare team regarding patients and their tests.
10. Orders and maintains supplies related to EEG testing.
11. Maintains a database of patients served by the EEG department.
12. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Skills Experience:
Required: HS Graduate or Equivalent.
Preferred: Associate degree or higher in a related field.
Other Information:
Required: Current BLS for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association.
Preferred: Previous experience performing EEG/Ambulatory EEG/video EEG testing.
Preferred: Registered EEG Technician from ABRET or ASET.
Required: Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Office and Electronic Health Records.
