Title: Environmental Services Lead - Norwalk Hospital - Norwalk, CT Full time 3pm-1130pm & every other weekend
Summary:
The EVS Lead performs higher level housekeeping tasks in a professional manner in order to reflect the highest integrity of the Environmental Services Department. In addition to general housekeeping duties, this role is responsible for identifying, performing, and assisting management with assigning special projects to the EVS 1 and EVS 2 associates. The EVS Lead will also use his/her expertise to train new staff in new processes and equipment. As a lead, this position is responsible for ensuring that assigned areas are cleaned and maintained per department and hospital standards.
Responsibilities:
- Performs a variety of environmental services functions and maintains a safe and clean environment by performing daily rounds and inspections.
- Utilize industrial cleaning machinery to perform certain cleaning assignments.
- Utilizes the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure. Ensures all chemicals are diluted to the proper ratio and that all chemicals are properly labeled and locked up when not in use.
- Follows all infection control practices including hand washing techniques, Standard Precautions and isolation precautions. Utilizes the appropriate chemicals and disinfectant according to procedure and cleaning routine to prevent the spread of infection.
- Observes and reports the need for repairs to equipment, furniture, building and fixtures and collaborates with management to create a plan of action to address identified issues.
- Schedules, plans and implements special projects as needed.
- Trains other EVS associates on new processes and equipment.
- Provides leadership, support and training to the housekeeping staff and reassigns staff as needed.
- Coordinates and oversees all assigned tasks on weekdays, weekends and holidays.
- Provides input and makes recommendations for EVS associates staff reviews.
- Ability to do work on his/her own without supervision.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
