Summary:
To provide activities and treatment to remediate functional abilities (physical, mental, emotional and social) and to assist in diagnostic and personality evaluation. Provides opportunities to acquire skills, knowledge, attitudes and insights to function independently in the community and to practice learned skills.
Responsibilities:
1. Assesses patients social, emotional, physical, leisure and cognitive abilities.
2. Develops treatment plan through writing goals and objectives; updates treatment plan.
3. Implements treatment with intervention techniques; conducts groups.
4. Designs program by developing protocols and selection of activities based on population.
5. Implements activity analysis as part of Evaluation Programs.
6. Prepares individual patient progress notes, discharge summary/planning related to leisure.
7. Communicates verbally with staff regarding patients.
8. Maintains supplies and equipment.
9. Maintains network with other health professionals, activities therapists and community services.
10. Develops resources and contacts for patients community involvement.
11. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
12. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: BACHELOR'S LVL DGRE

Required:
- Knowledge and skill of group dynamics, professional standards, and community resources.
- Therapeutic Recreational Specialist Certification required
- Minimum Experience: 3 years
- Credentials: NCTRC
Desired: Experience with psychiatric patients in an acute, in-patient setting.
