Summary:

Oversees and directs the day-to-day operations of the Environmental Services department ensuring a clean, orderly, and safe environment. Serves as the main point of contact for the Emergency Management function at Sharon Hospital. Provides oversight and ensures compliance to the Joint Commission Emergency Management standards and the deliverables for the CT State Health Department of Homeland Security grant funding requirements. Acts as the hospital representative for all aspects of Emergency Management.�

Responsibilities:

1. Organizes, coordinates and supervises the functions and activities within the EVS department. Develops a competent, customer focused workforce while providing supportive leadership.

2. Plans work schedules, hours and areas of work and job duties to employees to ensure appropriate services are rendered to all areas.

3. Maintains and inspects the hospital environment to ensure it is safe, sanitary, attractive, and in compliance with infection control standards and all policies and procedures. Tracks and trends results.

4. Manages materials and equipment and supply inventories while monitoring entire EVS budget to stay in compliance with hospital regulations.

5. Schedules major project work ensuring adequate staff, equipment and supplies are available.

6. Performs EVS tasks on an as needed basis.

7. Stays current on laws and regulations as they relate to emergency preparedness procedures and develops detailed emergency response plans including the planning of all emergency response drills. Ensures complete inventory of EM assets.

8. Performs research related to potential emergency threats and collaborates with other agencies that may help during an emergency.

9. Leads the response in the event of an emergency threat. Prepares detailed reporting after the event occurs.

10. Attends local Emergency Management preparedness meetings.

11. Completes all Emergency Management reports and investigations in a timely and thorough manner.

13. Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.

14. Performs other duties as required.

Manual: Some manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

Occupational: Some occupational risk

Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force

Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
