Summary:
To assist the MRI Technologist in the care, safety, and preparation of all MRI patients being examined, including the proper and thorough screening of all non-MR personnel. Additional responsibilities include: patient and transport computer entry, assistance with patient work flow, complete understanding of the MRI rules regarding safety and screening and front desk reception assistance including greeting, check in and reviewing safety questionnaire.
Responsibilities:
1. Greeting Patients Criteria A: Properly identifying patients by matching the patient name and MRN# on wrist band to the patient name and MRN# on the requisition or in the case of outpatients, any two identifiers would be acceptable. Greeting Patients Criteria B: Escorts outpatients to the proper changing area. Greeting Patients Criteria C: Advises patients on exam preparation, removal of all metals, and appropriate attire.
2. Confirmations/Prescreeing Criteria A: Confirms patient appointments for the following day and/or contacts patients who need additional imaging. Confirmations/Prescreeing Criteria B: Reviews screening questions/prior history with the patient as necessary. Confirmations/Prescreeing Criteria C: Explains any dietary preps or other specific directions for a successful exam. Confirmations/Prescreeing Criteria D: Identifies patients who require clearance prior to their exam and ensures any issues that need to be resolved are addressed in a timely manner.
3. Wokflow Criteria A: Respects scheduled appointment times and communicates delays to reception staff and/or patients directly. Wokflow Criteria B: Maintains patient flow by keeping workflow updated. Wokflow Criteria C: Reviews paperwork for completeness prior to passing to the technologist
4. Records/Documentation/CD requests Criteria A: Performs a patient merge verification on all patients scheduled for an MRI study. Records/Documentation/CD requests Criteria B: Assists in the maintenance of tracking logs ensuring accuracy and completeness. Records/Documentation/CD requests Criteria C: Process CD requests.
5. Responding to Urgent Situations Criteria A: Able to recognize specific psychological and or/physical needs of patients and determines when further assistance is needed. Responding to Urgent Situations Criteria B: Able to locate all necessary emergency equipment (code cart, oxygen, blood pressure monitor etc. Responding to Urgent Situations Criteria C: Ability to complete required tasks during emergencies. Responding to Urgent Situations Criteria D: Assists in quickly removing patients from the scan room (Zone lV )in the event of a patient emergency
6. Miscellaneous Criteria A: Stocks work area with laundry and medical supplies on a daily basis Miscellaneous Criteria B: Keeps sub waiting room organized and tidy, stocked with clean gowns Miscellaneous Criteria C: Cross coverage for other tech aides as required.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.
8. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
Education Skills Experience:
HS GRAD/EQUIVALENT

Required: High School diploma or equivalent. 1 year of previous hospital experience (preferred).
Minimum Experience: one year
Education Skills Experience: BLS/Healthcare certification required (may be obtained within 90 days). Exhibits a degree of professionalism to instill patient confidence. Maintains a positive attitude and demonstrate respect and courtesy. Ability to work independently.
