Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Safety and Security, this position is responsible for overseeing all security operations to ensure a safe and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors at Danbury and New Milford Hospitals and provides support for offsite facilities as needed. This role includes developing and implementing security policies, managing security personnel, and coordinating with law enforcement and emergency services. The manager ensures compliance with regulatory standards, conducts risk assessments, and leads initiatives to prevent unauthorized access, lefts and workplace violence.�

Responsibilities:

1.Ensures that the department delivers safety, security and general liability risk management programs which provide a safe environment for patients, visitors and employees at Danbury and New Milford hospitals.

2. Develops and implements security policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and standards.

3. Investigate all code grey incidents with department leaders and involves senior leadership and Risk Management as needed.

4. Collaborates with relevant internal stakeholders to ensure identified issues are addressed to completion.

5. Develops objectives and plans to achieve department goals that are consistent with the organization's quality and performance improvement goals.

6. Develops and oversees training programs for the security team. Ensure 50+ employed and contracted employees are properly trained and qualified for all posts needed to be covered.

7. Manages the budget for the Security department, ensuring resources are allocated effectively. Contributes to the Capital budget process.

8. Researches, studies and develops applications of techniques to enhance services and remain contemporary with rapidly changing organizational requirements.

9. Creates key performance indicators to quantify effectiveness of security program.

10. With the Director, completes annual evaluation of security program through tracking and trending of services provided and event reports.

11. Completes annual workplace violence evaluation to quantify effectiveness of proactive practices.

12. Serves as the primary contact for the hospital�s contracted services, security and valet, ensuring operational needs are met.

13. In conjunction with the Director and Safety Officer, collaborates in the design and implementation of physical security technology systems, including access control, CCTV, Facial recognition, and weapons detection, and ensures all security systems function properly.

14. Co-chairs Workplace violence committee.

15. Works collaboratively with Safety, Emergency Management, Employee Health and Risk Management. Participates in committees as requested.

16. Conducts ongoing Risk Assessments of property, security processes and procedures to proactively address potential risks.

17.Establishes and maintains practices regarding performance expectations, recognition and reward to maintain staff morale.

18.Takes proactive approach in developing and maintaining a good working relationship with local police and fire department.

19. May receive calls after hours for emergency for emergency response coordination.

20. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

21.Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: ASSOCIATE'S LVL DGRE

Other Information:

Required:� Associate Degree and minimum of five years job-related experience.�

�Required :� Certified Protection Officer (CPO).

Desired: Bachelor's Degree�

Displays superior investigative and reporting skills to manage general liability assurances which threaten the organization's assets, goodwill and public relations.

Familiarity with healthcare regulatory bodies and hospital systems. Ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments and external agencies.

Previous leadership experience preferred; strong interpersonal communication skills, computer (Microsoft Office).
