Title: Medical Assistant/Secretary - Norwalk Hospital Radiation Therapy, Norwalk, CT - 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8-hour shifts, 8am - 4:30pm.
**This position will have more clerical responsibilities than clinical responsibilities. If you are seeking to gain clinical experience this position is not for you.**
Summary: Provides clerical and secretarial support to assure smooth daily department operations. Assures that the patient and examination area is properly pared daily for patient care.
Responsibilities:
1) Greet and brings patients from the waiting room to clinical areas. Obtains vital signs and completes medication history in patient charts.
2) Provides both clerical and secretarial work associated with patient care including making calls, copies, scanning, faxing, preparing charts and files as indicated.
3) Schedules appointments as ordered; ensure that patient flow is adequate with limited wait times.
4) Maintain inventory ensuring that supplies are adequate; ensure proper upkeep, cleaning and testing of medical equipment and supplies.
5) Conducts in-office testing as directed by the physician; coordinates testing and outside ancillary services as applicable.
6) Collects, prepares and processes specimens as directed by the physicians.
7) Keep all pertinent logs up to date.
8) Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to this position.
9) Data entry with limited mistakes. Maintain and Model Nuvance Health Values.
10) Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.

12) Performs other duties as required.
Other information:
Required: High School Diploma or GED. New or experienced graduate of Medical Assistant program, or Nursing Assistant training program, or EMT certification, or 3 years job related experience in a medical office. Basic medical knowledge and terminology. Skilled in obtaining accurate patient vital signs. Ability to schedule patients and knowledge of telephone switchboard.
Minimum Experience: One year
Desired: CPR certification preferred. Bi-lingual preferred.
Salary Range: $16.50 - $30.44 Hourly (This position is a part of the Connecticut Health Care Associates Union).
