Physical Therapist Assistant
Description
Summary: Responsible for administering physical therapy modalities and rehabilitation treatments as directed by the physical therapist. The PTA assists with restoration of patient functioning to prevent disability following injury, disease or physical disability. Assists patients to reach their maximum performance and level of functioning, while learning to live within the limits of their capabilities. The PTA participates in operational aspects of the department, performs performance improvement activities and attends team and/or family conferences as needed.
Job Requirements:
- AA degree from a school or college approved by the American Physical Therapy Association.
- NYS PTA license
- Basic knowledge of physical medicine, physical therapy modalities, anatomy and physiology. Basic computer knowledge.
Working Conditions:
Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity
Occupational: Some occupational risk
Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force
Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
