Patient Services Transporter 2 - FT - Night
Description
Summary:
Prepares and expedites the delivery of patients to and from Testing Centers providing a timely, safe and direct route. Delivers equipment to Nursing Units, removes and delivers blood products, charts, and/or sterile supplies, and provides assistance during emergent situations to all Danbury Hospital departments. Supports and adheres to all organizational and department policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
1. Performs functions of Patient Services Transporter 1. Prepares patients for transport to designated location.
2. Identifies emergent situations when alone transporting a patient and begins appropriate emergency care. CPR training required.
3. Verifies and administers proper oxygen levels for patients requiring oxygen for transport under supervision of the RN.
4. Responds to Emergency Codes: Trauma Alert and Code 99.
5. Relieves dispatchers and assumes all responsibilities for the coordination of patient scheduling adhering to the established protocol.
6. Acts as a resource for other areas in regards to the proper use of body mechanics and makes suggestions for improvements.
7. Assists the department supervisor in assessing, researching and making recommendations for Transportation equipment repair & replacement.
8. Assists the department supervisor in ensuring that all Transportation equipment is properly cleaned and maintained.
9. Effectively communicates with all members of the Unit Without Walls team, members of other departments and patients & families.
10. Performs duties as directed by dispatcher, RN or Physicians.
11. Conducts training of all new employees of the Transportation Department.
12. Participates in hospital education programs in the area of patient safety.
13. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: HS GRAD/EQUIVALENT
Other Information:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Required: Must understand and speak conversational English.
Minimum Experience: one year
Desired: Bilingual desired.

Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force
Physical Environment: Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
