Summary:

An MRI Technologist works under the direction of a radiologist utilizing high and low field magnetic field in the form of resonance scanning equipment/scanners and other high-tech imaging equipment. These Technologists are graduates of 2 or 4 year programs. MRI Technologists must be certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and licensed by the State of Connecticut or ARMRIT certified.

Responsibilities:

1. Performs all MRI procedures Criteria A: Protocol selection Performs all MRI procedures Criteria B: Proper patient positioning Performs all MRI procedures Criteria C: Communicates with radiologists Performs all MRI procedures Criteria D: Works efficiently
2. Patient Care/Safety Screeing and Communciation Criteria A: Screens patient, personnel and visitors for MRI safety Patient Care/Safety Screeing and Communciation Criteria B: Pleasantly greets patients and properly identifies them Patient Care/Safety Screeing and Communciation Criteria C: Explains procedure to patient and introduces self to patient Patient Care/Safety Screeing and Communciation Criteria D: Properly monitors patient throughout procedure
3. Equipment and Maintenance Criteria A: Performs visual preventative safety inspections and reports negative findings to supervisor Equipment and Maintenance Criteria B: Completes daily equipment warm -up QAand ACR QC procedures Equipment and Maintenance Criteria C: Notifies vendor of any equipment problems Equipment and Maintenance Criteria D: Notifies supervisor of service calls and repairs
4. Stock and Inventory Criteria A: Maintains appropriate inventory of supplies; contrast media;sheets; venipuncture supplies; tapes;etc
5. Patient records Criteria A: Obtains and updates patient examination history file Patient records Criteria B: Reports and maintains patient log book Patient records Criteria C: Performs other paperwork as applicable
6. Training and Education Criteria A: Attends staff meetings and inservice programs Training and Education Criteria B: Maintains , Connecticut licensure, ARRT Certification and MRI Certification Training and Education Criteria C: Maintains appropriate level of CE credits for ARRT and ACR MRI Certification Training and Education Criteria D: CPR certification preferred
7. Related Duties Criteria A: Performs office procedures in absence of clerical support Related Duties Criteria B: Processes films when necessary
8. Hospital Policy Criteria A: Abides by all hospital and department rules and regulations
9. Performs other duties as assigned.
10. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force
