Nursing Technician F/T Day Eve
Description
Summary:
To provides nursing care to a patient or group of patients under the direction and supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse.
Required: Certified Nursing Assistant or an EMT in the State of Connecticut.
Sunday-Saturday, two 8-hour shifts, two 12-hour shifts per week. 7a-7p, 11a-11p, 7a-3p, 11a-7p, 3p-11p
Responsibilities:
1. Provides patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse. Prioritizes assignments in consultation with the RN. Performs procedures as identified by the Skills Checklist i.e., splinting, EKGs and wound care. Refers to and utilizes appropriate resources. Responds promptly to patient care needs. Maintains a safe patient environment incorporating Norwalk Hospital Policies and Procedures. Self-directed, offers assistance with unit needs, and cover other team members as needed.
2. Communicates with patients, visitors and coworkers within the scope of his/her responsibilities in a courteous manner. Observes and reports to Registered Nurse all changes in patient condition, observations or occurrences of an unusual nature in a clear and concise manner. Documents accurately patient data on appropriate forms i.e., ED Flow Sheet. Obtains information necessary to carry out patient care assignment, for example: report and/or active order profile sheets.
3. Demonstrates compliance with identified policies and procedures in carrying out unit assignments i.e., stocking, equipment Maintenace. Follows mini protocols. Maintains computer skills i.e., Eclipsys and Cerner, enters orders/patient charges and Emerge data. Demonstrates willingness to assist with and improve unit operations. Maintains neat and orderly appearance and environment. Completes all competencies and annual requirements as established by the ED Management team, i.e., EKGs, Point of Care Testing, restraints/Code Green and utilizes awareness of Least Restrictive Measures. Maintains personal Educational Record.
4. Utilizes supplies and equipment in a cost efficient and proper manner i.e.., stocking and Maintenance of equipment. Reports problems with supplies and equipment to appropriate personnel for corrective action. Maintains supplies as per established par levels in the ED and Express Care.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.
6. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
Education: HS GRAD/EQUIVALENT

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent and is a Nursing Assistant or an EMT in the State of Connecticut.
