Summary:
This position works with the clinical staff, physicians/advanced practitioners, clerical staff, and the manager in the coordination of assigned staff, equipment, and resources to facilitate smooth daily operational flow in the specialty clinics. They optimize patient care and direct and assist the assigned staff in their daily work processes.
Responsibilities
1. Patient care duties include administer and document injections, dispense and document medications as directed by physician/provider; assist with coordination of further patient care and follow-up and carry out tasks as directed by physician/provider. This includes label and handle labs, cultures, and other specimens, prepare laboratory and imaging requisitions. May include communication with patient, hospital, labs, imaging centers, pharmacies, physician offices, insurance plans.
2. In conjunction with the manager, manages patient triage calls and seeks out direction from providers as needed and assures documentation is reflective of disposition. Provides backup to medical assistant responsibilities when required.
3. Provides patient and family education on how to perform physician recommended care, take prescribed medication, prepare for tests or procedures, and monitor treatment progress.
4. Demonstrates clinical expertise and serves as a resource for the clinical staff.
5. Monitors inventory and orders medical supplies as well as follow up on all outstanding orders.
6. In conjunction with the manager, holds regular clinical meetings with staff to review clinical Key performance indicators (KPI) and implement/monitor process improvement plans.
7. In collaboration with the manager, mentors, orients, trains, assists in staff development, and directs clinical staff.
8. Completes new hire and annual clinical competencies for clinical staff. Arranges education and training sessions for professional development.
9. Provides input to manager for employee performance appraisals and goal setting.
10. In conjunction with the manager, participates in the interviewing process for new staff and provides feedback for hiring.
11. Monitors clinical equipment and works with the biomedical department to maintain and address any equipment concerns.
12. In collaboration with the manager, proactively solves problems, administrative issues, or patient complaints in a timely and effective manner. Escalates issues and concerns proactively to Manager, or clinic practice Leadership, as needed.
13. Assists manager with policy revisions and participates in audits for compliance with all regulatory requirements.
14. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

17. Performs other duties as required.
Education and experience requirements:
Graduate from approved nursing program
Current Connecticut RN License
Three (3) years nursing experience
Prefer: bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN)
Preferred – supervisory experience or experience in a leadership or education role.
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities requirements:
Strong interpersonal, telephone and computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint required)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
