Summary:
Provides technical expertise and experience in order to enhance the quality of laboratory services.
Responsibilities:
1. Performs all Medical Technologist 1 duties.
2. Functions as a technical consultant in their area of expertise.
3. Assumes responsibility for problems that may arise in Technical Specialist’s or Lead Tech’s absence.
4. Provides instruction at the bench and/or with formal lectures for students, residents & co-workers.
5. Assists in evaluating, validating, and writing new procedures. Previews & revises current procedures.
6. Actively assists in performance and oversight of quality control checks.
7. Assists Laboratory Management in the functions, data collection, and data collation required for Quality Assurance..
8. Assumes responsibility for the performance of one or more specialized functions as assigned by Laboratory Management.
9. Provides complete and accurate data for monthly review and sign-off.
10. Assists the Technical Specialist and Lead Tech in maintaining an environment of constant inspection readiness.
11. Promotes team work, quality, and staff development to coincide with the mission of the organization.
12. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
13. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Skills Experience:
Required: Bachelor's Degree
Minimum Experience: three years
Desired: American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) certification preferred or eligible.
