Summary:
To provide direct and indirect nursing care to a patient or a group of patients. Responsibilities will be working in the admitting 25%/recovery50%/ procedural room areas 25%.
Responsibilities:
1. Adheres to established Nursing Standards of practice to include: Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation.
2. Practices according to Unit-based Protocols.
3. Administers medication/IV solution according to Norwalk Hospital policy/procedure and consults appropriate resources for information as needed.
4. Assesses learning needs of patient and family or significant others.
5. Plans and provides appropriate instruction.
6. Assesses and documents effectiveness of teaching.
5. Participates in unit-based activities and participates in Nursing/Hospital Committees.
6. Attends staff development - Continuing Education Programs and attends JCAHO and OSHA programs annually.

10. Assumes role of charge RN and demonstrates independent problem solving and decision making skills.
11. Demonstrates good organizational and prioritization skills, able to assist in orientation and teaching of nursing personnel.

Education: ASSOCIATE'S LVL DEGREE
Required: Current RN License in State of Connecticut
Working Conditions:
Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity
Occupational: Significant occupational risk
Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort. May exert up to 50 lbs. force
Physical Environment: Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
