Description
Summary:
Purpose: Responsible for the operation and maintaining of diagnostic medical equipment in playing a key role in evaluating various medical conditions along with being able to provide basic patient care, proper documentation/reporting and performing various general office tasks. Diagnostic testing includes but is not limited to both, the Acute-Hospital and Ambulatory-Outpatient Testing Settings.
Acute Hospital Setting (Northern Dutchess Hospital) includes routine stress testing, Nuclear Stress testing, Stress Echocardiography, Echocardiograms, Transesophageal Echocardiograms, Electroencephalograms, Electrocardiograms, cleaning of TEE probes.
Ambulatory-Outpatient Testing Setting (Rhinebeck & Kingston Offices) includes Echocardiograms and Stress Echocardiography.
Responsibilities:
Essential Responsibilities
1. Review patient's medical history and physician's instructions. Ensure that there is an order for the test to be done.
2. Properly explain procedure to the patient and answer any questions patient may have.
3. Prepare diagnostic rooms and equipment (i.e. Echo/EEG/EKG machine, treadmills, computers, manual blood pressure equipment, etc.) for clinical use.
4. Operate all diagnostic equipment properly and safely in accordance with policies and procedures.
5. Ensure the patient is as comfortable as possible.
6. Promptly recognize and assist to treat complications during any diagnostic procedures performed in the department. Activate emergency protocol as needed.
7. Complete all job tasks thoroughly and completely following all established guidelines and standards.
8. Assist with training new hires.
9. Perform office tasks. (i.e. schedule appointments, update scheduled, print necessary paperwork, etc.)
10. Specialized training in the following areas is required when working in the Acute Hospital setting: Stress testing, Electroencephalogram, Electrocardiograms, Specialized Echocardiogram procedures, blood pressure monitoring for Stress testing. Office tasks include but is not limited to: Making patients appointments, updating schedules, printing necessary paperwork, faxing reports.
