Summary:
Performs all duties necessary to receive, process, decontaminate, sterilize and distribute supplies and equipment in an efficient and safe manner, for optimum patient care and according to Departmental/Infection Control Policies.
Responsibilities:
Issues, delivers, retrieves, receives and accurately fills orders for all supplies/equipment needed to maintain efficient support of optimum patient care and maintain accurate inventories.
Disposes properly and efficiently of and/or decontaminates all instruments and equipment dispensed by Central Sterile Processing as defined by department/Infection Control policies and procedures.
Maintains and insures all proper procedures for terminal sterilization of goods processed by steam or gas sterilization as defined in departmental policies.
Makes and receives all phone calls necessary to insure that accurate and timely departmental communication is facilitated and that the department is presented in a positive manner.
Promotes a safe and efficient working environment by adhering to hospital and department policies and procedures.
Demonstrates regard for the dignity and respect of all patients, family members, visitors and hospital personnel as defined in the philosophy of Vassar Brothers Hospital.
Required:
Education:
High school graduate.
License:
Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) from The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materiel Management.
Physical Environment: Significant exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
