The Chief Nursing Executive is responsible and accountable for the strategic vision and professional practice standards for nursing care throughout the organization. The CNO reports to the hospital President.

Responsibilities:

 

1. Develops organization-wide patient care programs, policies, and procedures that describe how nursing care needs for all patient populations are assessed, evaluated and met.

2. Develops and implements the organizations plans for providing nursing care to patients.

3. Participates with governing body, management, medical staff, and clinical leaders in the organizations decision-making structures and processes.

4. Implements an effective, ongoing program to measure, assess, and improve the quality of nursing care delivered to our patients.

5. Provides the clinical voice in the organization to guide the strategic planning and day-to-day operations.

6. Provides overall management, strategic planning, budget development & adherence, performance improvement, and maintenance and improvement of patient and employee satisfaction for the assigned services and any other services as directed by the Hospital President.

7. Participates in the development of operational plans, policies, and procedures.

8. Participates with other leaders from the governing body, management, medical staff, and clinical areas in planning, promoting, and conducting organization-wide performance improvement activities.

9. Establishes, approves and monitors professional practice standards to assure they meet regulatory agencies guidelines/standards published by various Professional Nursing Organizations and Societies, and demonstrates the  qualities stated in the American Nurses Associations "Code for Nurses."

10. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: MASTER'S LVL DGRE

Other Information:

 

This position requires a minimum formal education of Master Degree and minimum of seven years or more job related experience.

License, Registration, Certification Requirements: RN licensed in the State of CT.  Board Certified in Nursing Administration.

Board Certified in Nursing Administration, Advanced through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).  Strong strategic, organizational, communication, financial and performance outcomes skills.
