Summary:

Performs and is available to work across the WCHN Network testing and assisting in basic and advanced procedures in the pulmonary lab on patients who require services provided by the department.

Responsibilities:

1. Performs pulmonary function tests utilizing the sensor medics system.
2. Performs metabolic stress testing utilizing the sensor medics system.
3. Assists the physician during bronchoscopy and thorocentesis. Takes responsibility for ensuring samples procured during the procedure get properly labeled & sent to the laboratory.
4. Performs Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) puncture and utilizes the current technology to analyze the sample. Ensures that the results are put into the Cerner Laboratory Computer System.
5. Performs and documents quality controls & calibrations on all equipment.
6. Assists the physician during specialty bronchoscopy procedures, EBUS and Navigational.
7. Attends mandatory services & department meetings as per PEP standards.
8. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
9. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: ASSOCIATE'S LVL DGRE

Other Information:

 

Required: Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy and a minimum of 3 years experience as Respiratory Therapist or Pulmonary Function Technologist. 

RRT or CPFT from the National Board for Respiratory Care.

Must achieve RPFT within one year of hire.

 

Desired: Previous experience performing pulmonary function tests.

Working Conditions:

Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity

Occupational: Some occupational risk

Physical Effort: Medium to Heavy effort. May exert up to 35 lbs. force

Physical Environment: Some exposure to dirt, odors, noise, human waste, etc.
