Anesthesia Technicians support anesthesiologists, anesthesiologist assistants, nurses and other members of anesthesia care teams. Anesthesia technicians clean, sterilize, test, calibrate and troubleshoot anesthesia equipment, as well as keeping records of equipment inspections. Provides anesthesia technician services to patients under the direct supervision of a licensed anesthesia care provider designated by the client facility, in accordance with state regulations. Population served based on scope of services in the department.
 
  1. Cleans, sterilizes, disinfects, orders, stocks and maintains routine anesthesia equipment and supplies.

  2. Maintain anesthesia gases, supplies and equipment according to needs and schedules.
    Cleans, organizes and maintains anesthesia workroom, supplies and equipment. 
  1. Prepare and maintain patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems pre, intra and post anesthesia and with consideration and knowledge of age-specific issues related to meeting the needs of the various patient groups.

  2. Perform basic trouble shooting for monitors and equipment and reports defective equipment and equipment malfunctions appropriately/immediately.

  3. Maintain established departmental policies, procedures, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control standards.

  4. Documents and maintains preventative maintenance and quality records.

  5. Assists with transport of patients and laboratory specimens as necessary.

  6. Responsible for performing tasks that are within the scope of his/her educational preparation, knowledge, and permitted by the State of New York. 
Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of current experience or within the last three years in a comparable role.
  • PREFER: Associate or Bachelor’s Degree.
