Qualified candidates will hold the CST (Certified Surgical Technologist designation through a nationally accredited education program (i.e., National Board of Surgical Technology - NBST or Surgical Assisting - NBSTSA) and BLS.
PAY RANGE : $34 - 47.60/ HOUR PLUS SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL
RATE BASED ON FULL YEARS EXPERIENCE 0 - 20+ years
Position Summary:
- Location: Sharon Hospital in Sharon, CT
- Work Type: Full-Time
- Standard Hours: 40 hrs a week
- Work Shift: Mon - Fri, 7 AM- 3:30 PM : 2 on call shifts as assigned per week

Title: Surgical Technologist
Reports To: Director, Surgical Services
- Collects and utilizes available data necessary for the proper preparation of the surgical suite.
- Performs proper sponge, sharps and instrument counts according to policy and procedure, demonstrated by lack of occurrences.
- Maintains a safe surgical environment, assuring overall cleanliness of the surgical suite, proper placement of supplies to ensure a safe traffic pattern and verifies sterile processing through validation of integrity of sterile packaging.
- Maintains patient confidentiality and provides safe patient care through clear communication and collegial working relationships.
- Demonstrates knowledge of current trends and practices in the health care field, utilizing available educational materials and professional development opportunities.
- Utilizes materials and equipment in a safe, therapeutic and cost effective manner, consistently checking all equipment for working order and reporting unsafe conditions.
- Participates and complies with the results of quality assurance audits and findings.
- Consistently demonstrates an application of surgical technologist knowledge to perform assigned functions.

- Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as required.
- High School diploma or equivalent experience.
- PREFER: One (1) year of operating room and surgical technician experience.
- Basic understanding of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.
- Basic computer skills, i.e. MS Outlook.
- Surgical Technician Certification through an accredited educational institution.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.
