The Opportunity

Due to strong market demand, we’re expanding our AHV product management team. AHV is rapidly becoming the enterprise hypervisor of choice, and Nutanix is recognized as the ideal platform for modern workloads—whether that's server virtualization, Kubernetes, or AI-driven applications.

As a Senior/Principal Product Manager for AHV at Nutanix, you will play a critical role in shaping Nutanix's compute offerings and the core AHV hypervisor. With 72% of our customer base actively using AHV, it serves as a cornerstone for virtualization and our hybrid and multi-cloud journey. AHV is the key substrate underpinning all that Nutanix offers, and this role gives you the opportunity to be at the heart of it. The ideal candidate will be a team player and must love to work directly with customers on all feature and roadmap decisions.

You will own key marquee features, measure adoption success, and collaborate across engineering, sales, and marketing teams. About the Team

At Nutanix, the AHV Product Management team is a tight-knit group of 5 individuals working across different locations, fostering a geodispersed collaboration. Despite the physical distance, the team maintains excellent communication and cohesion, fostering an inclusive and supportive team culture.

You will report to the Director, Product Management who provides guidance, mentorship, and fosters growth. The work setup at Nutanix is hybrid, with employees expected to be in the San Jose headquarters 2-3 days a week to facilitate in-person collaboration and team-building activities.

While the role does not have extensive travel requirements, occasional travel may be necessary for team meetings, conferences, or customer engagements. Nutanix values work-life balance and strives to ensure that travel is purposeful and beneficial for both the employee and the company.

 

Your Role

  • Define and execute roadmaps for core AHV hypervisor development.
  • Conduct regular customer outreach to gather and synthesize feedback into prioritized requirements.
  • Author detailed Market Requirements Documents (MRDs) and actionable Product Requirement Documents (PRDs).
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to drive roadmap execution.
  • Track, manage, and report on KPIs to monitor success and inform future decisions.
  • Evangelize AHV’s value, providing advocacy and lead customer briefings to enhance adoption.
  • Deliver high-impact field and partner enablement materials in collaboration with marketing teams.
  • Build and maintain internal and external-facing collateral that communicates AHV’s benefits effectively.
  • Provide field support as needed to drive customer satisfaction.

 

What You Will Bring

Education:

  • BS or MS in Computer Science or related field strongly preferred. MBA is a plus.

Experience:

  • 5+ years in product management, engineering, or related roles in enterprise datacenter products, virtualization, IaaS, or cloud computing.
  • Strong familiarity with hardware virtualization ecosystems, including VMware ESXi, Hyper-V, KVM, AWS EC2, GCP, or Azure.
  • Proven success in managing enterprise-class products with attention to detail and cross-functional dependencies.

Technical Skills:

  • Deep understanding of virtualization fundamentals: virtual hardware, vGPU, high availability, Linux kernel, migration features, APIs/CLI, and more.
  • Experience with enterprise frameworks and IaaS offerings.

Soft Skills:

  • Ability to set strategy and drive future innovation.
  • Passion for solving complex customer problems and delivering high-impact solutions.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 182,400 and USD $ 364,800 per year.

However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
