The Opportunity
Are you a passionate and experienced engineer with deep expertise in Kubernetes and distributed systems? We are looking for a Senior Member of Technical Staff (SMTS) to join our Nutanix Kubernetes Platform (NKP) team. In this role, you will be instrumental in designing, building, and scaling our enterprise-grade Kubernetes offering. The ideal candidate is a hands-on developer with a talent for solving complex problems, a history of contributions to the cloud-native ecosystem, and a passion for mentoring fellow engineers.

The NKP Team delivers a complete, enterprise-grade, production-ready Kubernetes-based platform for modern applications. NKP integrates the best of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) ecosystem into a lifecycle-managed package, simplifying Kubernetes operations while providing seamless application mobility and integrated security and compliance. With NKP, enterprises benefit from a production-ready platform at a dramatically reduced total cost of ownership (TCO).
Your Role
- Architect, design, and develop new features and capabilities for the Nutanix Kubernetes Platform
- Tackle complex challenges related to distributed systems, microservices, scalability, performance, and security in a cloud-native environment.
- Lead technical discussions and contribute to the team's roadmap and architecture.
- Engage with the open-source community, particularly CNCF projects, representing Nutanix and contributing to key initiatives.
- Utilize your advanced debugging skills to analyze and resolve complex issues found in large-scale distributed systems.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, reviewing their work and fostering a culture of technical excellence and growth.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management and quality engineering, to deliver high-quality features.
- Automate and streamline development and operational processes to enhance team efficiency.
What You Will Bring
- 12+ years of hands-on software development experience, with a focus on backend systems.
- Expert-level knowledge of Kubernetes architecture and internals.
- Demonstrable contributions to the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) ecosystem. A strong portfolio of other open-source contributions is a significant plus.
- Proficiency in Golang for developing production-grade services.
- Deep understanding and extensive experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
- Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitOps, FluxCD).
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible is highly desirable
Work Arrangement
Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. In locations where our workplace policy applies (i.e. San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo), employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources.
