Director, Systems Engineering - EMEA South

Hungry, Humble, Honest, with Heart

The Opportunity

Nutanix is looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Director, Systems Engineering - EMEA South to lead and evolve our Systems Engineering organisation across France, Italy, Iberia (Spain and Portugal), Israel, and Northwest Africa.

This is a senior leadership role at the intersection of technology, business strategy, customer transformation and people leadership. You will lead a multi-country organisation of Systems Engineering leaders and teams, partnering closely with regional Sales leadership, customers, partners, Product and Engineering to help shape how Nutanix brings its technology and value proposition to market.

Nutanix has deep roots in enterprise infrastructure and hybrid multicloud. As the technology landscape continues to evolve, our Systems Engineering organisation must evolve with it. Cloud-native architectures, Kubernetes, AI and agentic AI, data sovereignty, application modernisation and increasingly distributed technology environments are changing the conversations we have with customers.

We are looking for a leader who understands where Nutanix comes from, but is equally passionate about where the market is going next. You will be responsible not simply for running the existing organisation, but for developing its capabilities, leadership and technical relevance for the future.

Your Role

  • Set the vision and strategy for Systems Engineering across EMEA South, ensuring the organisation is aligned with Nutanix business priorities, technology strategy and evolving customer needs.
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of Systems Engineering leaders, creating a strong leadership bench and a culture of accountability, collaboration, curiosity and continuous development.
  • Build an organisation capable of operating successfully across multiple countries, cultures, markets and business environments, balancing regional consistency with the needs of individual markets.
  • Lead the continued transformation of the SE organisation from its strong infrastructure foundations toward the technologies and customer challenges shaping the next generation of enterprise architecture.
  • Ensure teams continue to build capability across hybrid multicloud, cloud-native platforms, Kubernetes and containers, application modernisation, AI and agentic AI, data and infrastructure sovereignty, automation and modern enterprise platforms.
  • Help SE leaders and teams move beyond technology-led conversations to understand customer business priorities, strategic outcomes and transformation objectives, positioning technology in the context of those needs.
  • Partner closely with Sales leadership across France, Italy, Iberia, Israel and Northwest Africa to shape account, territory and regional strategy and ensure strong alignment between Sales and Systems Engineering.
  • Serve as a trusted executive partner to strategic customers, helping them navigate complex technology and business transformation decisions.
  • Build strong relationships with Product, Engineering and other internal stakeholders, bringing market and customer insight back into Nutanix and helping influence future priorities.
  • Strengthen collaboration with Nutanix partner and channel ecosystem, ensuring partners have the technical capability and strategic context needed to succeed with Nutanix.
  • Drive organisational transformation in a fast-changing environment, challenging the status quo where necessary and helping teams adopt new technologies, skills and ways of working.
  • Attract, develop and retain high-performing and diverse talent across the region, while creating meaningful development and career opportunities within the organisation.
  • Build succession plans and identify the next generation of Systems Engineering leaders.
  • Create an environment in which teams remain curious, externally aware and connected to market trends, continually developing their technical and commercial capabilities.
  • Use data, customer insight and business performance indicators to assess organisational effectiveness, identify capability gaps and determine where investment or change is required.
  • Act as a senior escalation point for complex customer, partner and organisational situations when appropriate.
  • Represent EMEA South Systems Engineering within broader Nutanix leadership discussions and contribute to company strategy.
  • Travel regularly across the region to engage with teams, customers, partners and leadership.

What You'll Bring

You are an experienced technology and people leader who combines technical credibility, commercial understanding and organisational leadership. You understand enterprise infrastructure deeply enough to appreciate the foundations of Nutanix, but your perspective extends well beyond traditional infrastructure. You understand how cloud-native architectures, AI, sovereignty, application modernisation and new operating models are reshaping enterprise technology decisions.

  • Significant experience leading Systems Engineering, Solution Engineering, Pre-Sales, Field Engineering or a comparable customer-facing technical organisation within enterprise technology.
  • Proven experience leading leaders, ideally across multiple countries or a geographically distributed organisation.
  • A track record of successfully leading teams through organisational, technology or go-to-market transformation.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure, hybrid multicloud and modern data centre architectures, combined with meaningful exposure to emerging areas such as cloud native, Kubernetes, AI, automation, application platforms and digital sovereignty.
  • The ability to understand technology deeply enough to challenge, guide and develop senior technical teams without needing to be the deepest technical specialist in every domain.
  • Strong commercial and business acumen, with the ability to connect technology strategy with customer outcomes, competitive positioning and revenue opportunities.
  • Experience partnering with senior Sales leaders and building highly effective Sales and Systems Engineering relationships.
  • Strong executive presence and the ability to engage credibly with senior customer stakeholders, partners and internal executives.
  • Demonstrated ability to build, develop and retain high-performing teams while creating clear succession and development paths for future leaders.
  • Experience operating effectively in environments undergoing rapid change, with the ability to challenge established ways of working while bringing teams with you.
  • A strategic mindset combined with the ability to translate strategy into clear priorities, operating rhythms and execution.
  • Strong communication, influencing and presentation skills.
  • Cultural awareness and the ability to lead effectively across different markets, leadership styles and business environments.
  • Fluency in English. Additional European languages are highly valued.
  • Location: Italy, Spain or France
