The DBA will be part of a collaborative and dedicated team that supports business applications and enterprise data needs at Nutanix. This team works closely with the ETL team for data ingestion and quality, and interacts with business users across the company. The team is focused on ensuring the availability, performance, and integrity of the company's databases, and plays a vital role in supporting the analytics and decision-making processes. The team values open communication, expertise sharing, and the continuous improvement of database administration practices.

About the Team

At Nutanix, you would be joining the Data Platform team, a tight-knit group of 10 individuals who are located across different sites. Our team culture is centered around fostering open communication and collaboration, ensuring that each team member's voice is heard and valued. We believe in supporting one another and leveraging our diverse perspectives to drive innovation and success in our projects.

You will report to the Senior Manager of the Data Platform team at Nutanix. As for the work setup, we operate on a hybrid model, requiring employees to be in the office for 2-3 days a week. This setup allows for both in-person collaboration and flexibility for remote work, ensuring a healthy work-life balance for our team members.

In terms of travel requirements, there are none for this position. You would primarily be working from our office locations but with the flexibility to work remotely as needed.

Your Role

• Administer and maintain highly available database systems, ensuring optimal 
  performance and reliability.
• Provide support to business users to meet their enterprise data needs, facilitating 
  efficient data access and utilization.
• Collaborate with the ETL team to ensure effective data ingestion and maintain high 
  data quality standards.
• Design, build, and configure PostgreSQL databases on Linux environments, ensuring 
  robust and scalable architecture.
• Manage and optimize database performance, including backup and recovery 
  processes, to ensure data integrity and availability.
• Develop and optimize PL/PostgreSQL, triggers, and stored procedures to enhance 
  database functionality and performance.
  Ensure compliance with database server architecture standards and concepts to 
  maintain system consistency and security.

What You Will Bring

• 7+ years of experience as a DBA specializing in PostgreSQL databases.
• Strong knowledge of relational and dimensional database theory.
• Hands-on experience with database administration, including backup and recovery.
• Expertise in PL/PostgreSQL, triggers, materialized views, and stored procedures.
• Understanding of high-availability technologies to ensure continuous database 
  operations.
• Working knowledge of Linux, Bash scripting, and Python for database management 
  and automation.
• Expertise in SQL performance tuning and query optimization techniques to maximize 
  database efficiency.
• Strong understanding of database design principles, indexing, and normalization to 
  create efficient and scalable databases.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-
