Software Engineer (Nutanix Database Service)

The Opportunity
We are looking for bright young engineers, with rock-solid coding skills, passion for system design, who are excited to be part of a team building modern Cloud technology, and shaping the future of our product. In the Nutanix DB Team, we are tackling the most challenging problems in Database Engine and Service layers that will utilize the full power of Private and Public Clouds (Nutanix Cloud, AWS, Azure, etc.).
About the Team
Nutanix Database Service (NDB) is a DBaaS (Database as a Service) product for on-premise Nutanix customers. The product is expanding to a Hybrid Multi Cloud Solution with a scalable architecture. The NDB engineering team is distributed across Serbia, USA, and India. If the idea of starting small and building big excites you, you will be a good fit for this team. With NDB, you'll find no shortage of challenging problems to work on. We work closely across our team in a collaborative environment that encourages the open exploration of ideas.
Your Role
- Take part in building core components of the Nutanix Database Service;
- Build a system that can operate thousands of hosted instances for multiple DB kernels: PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, Oracle, and others;
- Experience multi-Cloud development with Nutanix Cloud, AWS, Azure, etc;
- Work under the guidance of assigned mentors and buddies for support throughout the onboarding process;
- Use the power of the Open Source to build a system that scales and spans across different clouds and geographies;
What You Will Bring
- 2+ years of relevant industry experience;
- Passion for programming and rock-solid foundation in at least one of the following languages: Java, C, C++, Python, Golang;
- Ability to solve problems related to distributed systems, concurrency, and performance engineering;
- Bachelor’s and Master’s (preferred) in Computer Science
- Experience in building a scalable cloud service on one of the leading public clouds: AWS, Azure, GCP, etc. is a plus;
- Experience in either PostgreSQL, MS Sql Server, Oracle, or other Database Engine development is a plus;
Work Arrangement
Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. In locations where our workplace policy applies (i.e. San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo), employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources.
