The Opportunity
The Nutanix Content Management team is building new best-in-breed hybrid cloud infrastructure management plane workflows for management of core infrastructure building blocks like virtual machine templates, virtual disks and virtual appliances. We are developing a new backend service and architecture focused towards realizing our product vision of effectively scaling to hybrid cloud infrastructure demands. We are looking for a Senior Engineer with a rare and unique blend of technical and operational skills. You will lead a team of passionate engineers to drive the development and evolution of our cutting-edge hybrid cloud infrastructure management plane. You will play a key role in shaping the future of our product, ensuring product simplicity and delight for Nutanix customers.
About the Team
Nutanix Content Management Service (CMS) simplifies and unifies the management of business-critical hybrid cloud infrastructure components by extending the management plane across network and geographic boundaries. For administrators, CMS speeds time to value and reduces operational risk by introducing a no overhead, easy single pane of glass management model. For business owners, CMS increases cost efficiency and speed towards delivery of a resilient hybrid cloud infrastructure. CMS aspires to exemplify true hybrid cloud model through its product offering and integrate seamlessly with popular hyperscaler cloud platform offerings. CMS is expected to operate in large customer environments spanning hundreds of geographically distributed cluster environments with thousands of hybrid cloud infrastructure management entities. The CMS team’s primary technology stack is authored in Python and Golang. The team owns a Nutanix native service backend handling a RESTful hybrid cloud entity management interface.
You will report to the Senior Technical Manager, who believes in fostering a sense of community and encourages a culture of autonomy and craftsmanship for engineers.This role is hybrid, based in our San Jose headquarters, where you will be expected to be in the office 2-3 days per week. This setup allows for a balance of in-person collaboration and remote work flexibility, ensuring team connectivity and productivity.
Role
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects and other Technical Leads to define the product roadmap and guide the team in its execution.
- Oversee the end-to-end feature development lifecycle, from design and implementation to testing and timely release, ensuring a high-quality and robust product.
- Uphold rigorous standards of software quality, leading the team in implementing robust testing practices, code reviews, and performance optimizations.
- Demonstrate excellent intuition for API design, backend service architecture and design.
- Demonstrate knowledge of enterprise hybrid cloud architecture patterns ensuring seamless integration with hyperscaler cloud provider platforms.
- Stay updated with cloud ecosystem developments, industry trends, and best practices, driving continuous improvement and technical growth within the team.
- Encourage a culture of innovation and creativity within the team, empowering peers to explore novel solutions and technologies.
- Demonstrate a fondness for computer programming and enterprise product development.
- Demonstrate openness to listen and learn.
- Provide guidance on Cloud infrastructure management, entity data management, and related technologies, ensuring the team's technical proficiency and growth.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
- Excellent problem solving skills
- Strong software design and programming skills
- Openness to constantly change and evolve the product and processes with the objective of continuously improving end user experience.
- Strong industry experience (typically 8+ years) in software product development. Experience with hybrid cloud platforms, distributed systems, containerization, and building enterprise grade APIs is a strong plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.
- Experience working in areas of enterprise product development or hyperscalers, including Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, GCP, VMware vSphere, etc.
- Experience with cloud native development methodologies.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 148,000 and USD $ 296,400 per year.
However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
