The Opportunity
As a Summer Intern, you will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects in the areas of Big Data, Distributed Computing, Machine Learning, Generative AI, and Data Analytics. You will synergize with Nutanix engineers, gain hands-on experience with our technology stack, and contribute to innovative solutions that enhance our product offerings.
This internship is designed for individuals passionate about data engineering, artificial intelligence, and advanced details. You will gain exposure to a variety of tools, platforms, and frameworks, and develop technical and problem-solving skills.

Your Role
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and optimize Big Data pipelines using Spark, Hadoop, and distributed computing technologies.
- Explore and implement Machine Learning and Generative AI models to solve complex data challenges.
- Analyze large datasets to extract actionable insights and build Business Intelligence (BI) dashboards using modern visualization tools.
- Assist in the development of scalable data solutions for data analytics and predictive modeling.
- Research state-of-the-art advancements in Generative AI and contribute to their practical application within Nutanix’s technology ecosystem.
- Work with real-world data lakes and cloud platforms to build and test distributed systems.
- Optimize the performance, reliability, and scalability of existing data solutions.
What You Will Bring
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring current or future sponsorship for an employment visa, such as an F-1, H-1B, or TN visa.
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Engineering, Management Information Systems, Business Information Management).
- Strong programming skills in Python, Scala, Java, or C++.
- Familiarity with Big Data technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, or Kafka.
- Basic knowledge of Machine Learning algorithms and frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Scikit-learn.
- Experience with SQL and working with relational and NoSQL databases.
- Enthusiasm for exploring Generative AI and its applications in business.
- Knowledge of data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Matplotlib.
- Strong, detailed, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
- Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship (no OPT/CPT).
Work Arrangement
Hybrid: This role operates in a hybrid capacity, blending the benefits of remote work with the advantages of in-person collaboration. In locations where our workplace policy applies (i.e., San Jose, Durham, Mexico City, Bangalore, Pune, Hoofddorp, Belgrade, Barcelona, Singapore, Sydney, and Tokyo), employees are expected to work onsite a minimum of 3 days per week to foster collaboration, team alignment, and access to in-office resources. Workplace type may vary based on location and team requirements. Please speak with your recruiter for details. Your manager will provide additional team-specific guidance and norms.
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 36 and USD $ 60 per year.
However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
