The Cloud data platform team works on the most cutting-edge data platform databases/tools to solve hard data-scaling problems. We work with the system mindset optimizing for resources and simplicity in design and look forward to adding self-initiated team members who like to take ownership and build great data platform services.
We are currently looking for a Systems Engineer to help us deliver a great core data platform service that will be consumed by the internal product/app engineering teams as well as Nutanix customers.
About The Team
This role will be part of the Nutanix Cloud Manager team, based in San Jose. The team is geographically distributed across San Jose and India. And, the team is focussed on building an enterprise grade data platform that multiple product engineering teams at Nutanix can use and deliver exceptional solutions to Nutanix’s customers. You will report to a Staff Engineer, who loves diving deep into distributed systems, databases and streaming systems and is looking to form a small and focussed team spread across geographies. The manager encourages open communication and ownership, fostering a culture where team members feel empowered to influence decisions and contribute to the project’s success.
As part of our hybrid work setup, you will be required to work in the office three days a week, allowing for a balance between in-person collaboration and remote work flexibility to cater to individual preferences and needs.
There are no travel requirements for this position, allowing you to focus on delivering high-quality work and contributing effectively to the team's success without the added stress of frequent travel. Your Role
Build and optimize distributed data systems that can scale for large volumes of data.
Comfortable navigating and adding code to huge codebases.
Build & maintain integrated data platforms that will be used by multiple engineering teams.
Use open-source projects and make contributions back to the open-source projects.
Design and develop Web-scale libraries, proxies and services.
Improve performance and scalability of internal back-end components.
What you will bring
Love for programming and rock-solid in one or more languages: C/C++, Go or Java.
Good understanding of data structure and algorithms.
Understand open-source distributed databases/streaming systems and tradeoffs in building clustered, high-performance, fault-tolerant systems software.
Contribution to Distributed Databases like Clickhouse, Druid or Pinot will be a huge plus.
Experience in using Time Series / analytics databases at scale is a huge plus.
Experience in docker and kubernetes is a huge plus.
Familiarity with datacentre or cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a huge plus.
Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science or related field required.
3-7 years of experience designing and developing web-scale software applications.
The pay range for this position at the commencement of employment is expected to be between USD $ 124,800 and USD $ 249,600 per year.
However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
