POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Director, Project Management Center of Excellence (PMCoE), this position manages and leads the team members (project managers, coordinators and others as assigned) under PM Resource Group. This position also oversees one or more internal and/or external projects related to NuScale's Small Modular Reactor Technology. When assigned as a Project Manager, this position will report, for day to day activities, to a Project Director, in a Strong Matrixed structure, and will lead a diverse team comprised of various departments to advance the NuScale Small Modular Reactor design, fabrication and deployment. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Manage team performance by setting set expectations, delegating tasks, monitoring team progress and conducting performance reviews of the team members. Facilitate employee development by training new hires, providing coaching and mentorship, creating development plans and encouraging professional growth. Hire and train resources to meet project demands.
  2. Responsible for creating, supporting and maintaining PM procedures.
  3. Has responsibility for coordinating with project directors to understand resource demand and PM performance, assigning PM resources to projects, maximizing direct use of resources.
  4. Resolve issues promptly, mediating disputes, fostering teamwork, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures to ensure a safe, secure, and respectful work environment for team members.
  5. Manage the overall planning and execution of project activities for assigned projects.
  6. Document and maintain the approved baseline, earned value planning and management, and project execution strategy in a Project Management Plan.
  7. Proactively identify and achieve resolution of project problems and anticipated challenges, including escalation of issues within the NuScale organization when necessary.
  8. Provide weekly and monthly status reports focused on project performance (earned value metrics, variance analysis, etc.), schedule and cost risk mitigations, and issue resolution to project stakeholders.
  9. Coordinate with performing organization management personnel to assign work package managers and qualified resources for project execution.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Quality Assurance: Commits to the understanding of the quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and NQA-1.

 

MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

  • Education: A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Construction Management is required.  Project Management Institute (PMI) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent certification program completion is required (or able to be obtained within first six months in role).
  • Experience: A minimum of fifteen years of experience in project management of energy related development or deployment projects is required.  Five years of supervisory or team management experience is required.  Project management experience associated with projects with a high degree of complexity and multiple interfaces is required. Nuclear industry or US Department of Energy project experience is preferred. Demonstrated in-depth understanding and application of PMI Project Management Body of Knowledge and Earned Value Management (ANSI/EIA-758-C) is required.
  • Management: Capable of managing and motivating the team, project managers in PM Resource Group, project personnel on assigned projects and coordinating multiple discipline interfaces to provide solutions in a timely manner.  Also capable of mentoring and coaching project managers and personnel on project management practices and matters.
  • Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Pay and Benefits: 

The target base salary range for this position is $150,537 - $181,683 annually.  The full base salary range is $134,964 - $211,098 annually.
