Director, Compensation & Benefits

NOTE:  This position will be based in our Houston, TX office (City Center) with travel as required for business purposes. 

 

 

POSITION SUMMARY:  Responsible for designing, overseeing and implementing the company’s compensation and benefits programs as well as oversee NuScale’s HRIS.  Will also monitor salary structures, balance staffing needs with cost controls, and ensure that policies, procedures and programs are in alignment with the organization’s overall strategic objectives and HR vision.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Consulting with internal business partners, such as department heads and management, to assess benefits, compensation and compliance needs.
  2. Conduct research and make recommendations on retirement and insurance plan design and administration.
  3. Evaluate competitor compensation and benefits packages and make recommendations regarding NuScale compensation and benefits structures.
  4. Manage third-party HR vendor resources such as brokers, 401(k) advisors, consultants and record-keepers.
  5. Assure the organization remains compliant with changing federal and state employee benefits regulations, as well as the shifting needs of an organization’s workforce
  6. Educate, mentor and train HR staff on processes and professional practices within these areas
  7. Oversee and lead the HRIS function and its interchange with the company’s ERP system(s).
  8. Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES:

  • Education:   A minimum of Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Human Resources, or other related field is required. Alternatively, an additional 4 years (14 total) of directly applicable full-time working experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.  An advanced degree in HR Management or Organizational Development, MBA, or similar business degree is preferred.  Advanced SHRM certificate also preferred.
  • Experience:  A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in compensation and benefits administration is required.  Must have in-depth knowledge and application of federal regulations and a demonstrated ability to take the lead on resolution of complex compensation and benefit issues and questions. Capable of managing and motivating personnel assigned to designated control account work and coordinating multiple technical discipline interfaces to provide solutions in a timely manner.  Additional required experience is as follows:
    • Corporate financial management and budgeting
    • Using industry data and statistics to make informed decisions
    • Structuring compensation and benefits packages and measuring their success
    • Experience utilizing Oracle ERP systems (not required, but strongly preferred)
  • Industry Requirements:  Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.

Pay and Benefits: 

The target pay range for this position is $165,576 - $199,833 annually.  The full pay range is $148,447 - $232,188 annually.
