About the role

 

Our client is an international shipping and logistics business, founded in 1915 that offers logistics, distribution, customs clearance, documentation, consulting, freight forwarding, entry services for import and export shipments and compliance, and consulting services.

 

We are looking for an EDI Developer who will play a key role in designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) solutions using Altova MapForce. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to analyze business requirements, design EDI mappings, troubleshoot issues, and ensure seamless data exchange between internal systems and external partners.  

 

The main responsibilities/tasks include

 

  • Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and other stakeholders to analyze EDI requirements
  • Design and develop EDI mappings using Altova MapForce and FlowForce to facilitate the exchange of electronic documents (e.g., invoices, purchase orders, shipping notices) in various formats (EDIFACT, ANSI X12, XML, etc.)
  • Implement and configure EDI solutions to integrate with internal systems (ERP, CRM, etc.) and external trading partners
  • Conduct thorough testing of EDI mappings to ensure accuracy, compliance, and optimal performance
  • Promptly and effectively respond to Service Desk tickets, meeting the daily needs and concerns of customers while maintaining high customer service standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve EDI-related issues, such as mapping errors, data validation failures, and communication failures.
  • Monitor and maintain EDI processes to ensure timely and reliable data exchange.
  • Document EDI mappings, configurations, and processes for future reference and knowledge-sharing  

Job Skills/Requirements
- +90% English written and oral (at least B2 level) with excellent communication skills
- Hands-on experience with Altova MapForce and FlowForce for designing and implementing EDI mappings
- Familiarity with Atlassian tools including JIRA, Confluence, or Bitbucket would be a plus.
- Proven experience as an EDI Developer, with a strong understanding of EDI concepts, standards, and protocols
- Experience in the transportation, supply chain, and/or logistics industries a huge plus
- Practical experience in unit testing and integration testing is appreciated, demonstrating a commitment to code quality and stability
- Proficiency in XML, XSLT, XPath, and other related technologies
- Familiarity with EDI standards such as ANSI X12, XML Schema, and EDIFACT
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug complex issues and propose effective solutions
- Experience writing code meaningful comments and variable names
- Firm understanding of CI/CD; launch, test, and iterate
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications
- Experience communicating how-to instructions for non-technical teams
- Capable of designing a moderately sized software project, putting together a project plan to accomplish it, tracking progress, and executing it with a team
- Able to see the big picture of how systems interact with one another
