Description

We work to advance the University of Nebraska and its students.  As such, this position is open to current University of Nebraska students only.   This position will provide broad, hands-on experience in various facets of communication. The Communications\Social Media Intern works directly with the Director of Communications. Duties may include:

  • Research/implement creative and engaging social media tactics, tools and trends
  • Conduct research and interviews for stories
  • Write short, descriptive, engaging content for social media channels
  • Write copy for publications, releases, website, emails, e-newsletters, marketing, etc.
  • Copyedit and proofread copy
  • Edit, format photos and art for various mediums
  • Generate story ideas
  • Proof website pages
  • Initiate, build and maintain positive relationships with social media influencers
  • Maintain weekly database of social media network statistics
  • Report on and photograph Association/University events
  • Take and edit photos
  • Create, produce online video/audio
  • Promote and staff alumni events

Must be a UNO student majoring in communication with a minimum of 48 credit hours, including News Writing & Reporting or Media Writing.  Experience using Associated Press Stylebook.  Experience with MS Office, InDesign and Photoshop preferred; knowledge of Macintosh helpful.  Strong understanding of and current involvement in social media sites widely used today/  Working knowledge of digital camera and video recorder; experience creating videos a plus.  Knowledge of HTML, web publishing/design a plus
