What you will do
As a Senior AI Platform Lead, you will help build and operate NRC Health’s production AI platform. In the near term, you will play a hands-on role transitioning AI capabilities from an external vendor to full internal ownership. Over time, you will partner with product engineering teams to enable safe, scalable, and governed AI-powered features across NRC Health’s portfolio.
Key responsibilities include:
- Taking ownership of the existing AI platform and expanding it through building and maintaining core AI platform components across the model lifecycle: training, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
- Implementing automated evaluation frameworks and regression safeguards.
- Supporting observability, performance monitoring, and system reliability.
- Designing and operating scalable AI/MLOps infrastructure, including: model hosting, training and evaluation pipelines, CI/CD for models and AI services, and monitoring and logging.
- Implementing architectural patterns for LLM-enabled services such as: retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), orchestration layers, and inference APIs.
- Enabling and transferring AI capabilities and feature development across product engineering teams
- Building reusable platform services and tooling that enable safe AI experimentation.
- Ensuring implementations follow platform standards for reliability, cost efficiency, and governance.
- Working with Security and Compliance teams to ensure AI systems follow PHI-safe design principles and operational requirements.
What you need
- 8+ years of software engineering experience building production systems.
- Experience developing or operating LLM-based systems (e.g., RAG pipelines, orchestration frameworks, or model integrations).
- Experience building or supporting AI/MLOps infrastructure.
- Understanding of model lifecycle management, evaluation, and regression testing.
- Experience building scalable backend or platform systems.
- Familiarity with AWS infrastructure.
- Strong engineering problem-solving skills and a focus on production reliability.
Nice to Have
- Experience working in regulated or high-trust environments.
- Familiarity with modern data platforms such as Snowflake.
- Experience supporting internal developer platforms or shared services.
- Familiarity with AWS’s AI offerings.
Compensation
In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position is $179,400-$242,190, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. If you are hired at NRC Health, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors – we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package. NRC Health is not currently hiring in DE, HI, MD, NJ, RI, D.C. While this position may allow for a work from home environment, preferred candidates live in the Seattle, WA and surrounding areas.
